In the inky night time hours

I am grateful for the light

Thankful for abundance

In the midst of barren blight

When fighting from my knees

When the suffocating static

Forces me to gulp for air

There are greater things than I

Working wonders within my days

And I've become quite cognizant

Of His miraculous displays

When the nuisance of the noise

And lack of love lays ludicrous

Know that you, my friend, specifically

Were made for such a time as this

There is a purpose in your being

No matter caste or sex or hue

Along with the Heavens and the earth

Today is National Nurses Day!
What an extraordinary group of people.

Selfless, tireless, giving.

I have come to be blessed with a very large

group of friends who are in this field.

Circumstances may not have been perfect

for me to have gathered these souls in my sphere,

but I literally would not be standing

without the existence of these people.

There are far too many to acknowledge by name,

but I hope you know how appreciated you are,

how vital you are,

how important you are,

how very loved you are.

You are Angels of Change 

who have traded in halos for stethoscopes

and wings for quiet, bedside fortitude.

Thank you for all you do and are.
