but here's my take on a spicy topic ...
I never needed "someone who looked like me"
to chase an opportunity or a venture.
What truly spurred me on
was someone telling me I couldn't do it.
Somebody saying that you're too little,
you're too big, you're a girl, you're too weak.
Tell me there's never been a girl on the golf team,
here ... hold my tees.
Tell me I'm too big for ballet ...
get out of my way on the gymnastics floor.
Tell me I'm not strong enough ...
let me bust some goals while bodybuilding.
I didn't need a role model.
I needed me, myself and I.
I fed on the obstacle to overcome it.
Of course, there are role models to watch,
but they come in all shapes and sizes
and I filtered what worked from what didn't.
What about you?
