Was cleaning over the weekend and came across this gem ~
tucked within a very old writing pad,
probably nearly 20 years old.
Not quite sure what was going on,
but it's fairly powerful ~ IMHO.
What do YOU think?
Have You Ever
by Lyn Marinello (unknown date)
Have you ever felt alone; on an island in a busy street
Standing almost weightless in the midst of many feet
Helpless in the dark on a bright, sun-shiny day
Not a soul to speak to as crowds shove you on your way
Have you ever felt abused without a mark to bare
Spent your energy on others and no one seems to care
Scream and shout frustrations and not a sound is heard
Try to make a difference; feel like all your effort is absurd
Have you ever tried to fit in – a peg without a hole
Given every corner of your heart and received a shattered soul
Put on airs of deepened ego in the shallow pool in which you swim
Restrained yourself reservedly while others danced at whim
Are you at all important? Is there purpose in your being?
Do your parents understand you and the evil from which you’re fleeing?
Do you matter? Do you count? Is there meaning to your life?
Do your children ever listen? Does your husband love his wife?
Are you integral at all? Is there intention to your days?
Can your kids or does your wife appreciate your ways?
We’re all deserted on that island, lost in the masses of mankind
Blind to what’s around us and deaf to cries that bind
Have you ever stopped to think as you wander through this dread
That you are actually a miracle with each hair numbered on your head
