The grasp of baby fingers
Wooded wisdom walks
Carefree days upon the beach
And intimate heart-felt talks
How the hugs held you together
And the tears just drained you dry
The promise of a yes
The devastation of a why
Carry memories of road trips
Of getting lost and getting found
The images that stole your breath
That simple words could not expound
Count the friendships you have made
And the dearest ones you keep
Embrace the euphoric comfort
As you watched your children sleep
Store away the kindnesses
The graces you’ve been gifted
The departures and additions
As priorities have shifted
Acknowledge all your efforts
How your weaknesses have waned
The struggles that you’ve overcome
The new perspectives that you’ve gained
