We were literally once connected
Providing sustenance for soul and heart
Two completely separate entities
Uniquely bound while we're apart
There was tremendous growth
Both literal and symbolic
Occasional mayhem and chaos
Mostly peaceful and bucolic
An underlying intuition
Thoughts conveyed with only eyes
Anguish, anger, joy and tales
Unconditional compromise
Tethered by more than umbilical

A bond of strength indefinable
A constant current beneath one's wings
