KOH Day

Today is National Kiss of Hope Day.
Now, really, what could be better than that?

Observed annually on the last Saturday of April,
KOH Day is a day where folks are encouraged
to show and express their love for others
and also to help charities raise funds and awareness.

Why did I not know of this sooner?

EVERY day is a day to shower those you love
with all kinds of affection and
EVERY day is a day to put your efforts
where you passions are and help the less fortunate.
It sure is nice, though,
to have a specific day to declare such things.

I hope your day is kissed with hope
and love.
Do some good stuff.

National Superhero Day

Today is National Superhero Day.
Some of you may lean toward Batman, Wonder Woman
or persons of that sort.
I, however, prefer to acknowledge and give kudos
to the superheroes I know personally!

Field Trip

Do you remember,
waaaaaaaaay back when,
in our youth when we got so stoked
because we were having a field trip at school?
No learning (or so we thought).
Just an awesome day, some place new,
with the possibility of grand adventures.
What fun!

Today . . .
in our not-so-youth . . .
do it again!
Take a field trip!
Go some place new.
Go some place fun.
Go some place exciting.
Go some place yet unexplored (by you).
You don't have to spend a fortune.
Just go.

The only thing missing
is the fight for the bumpy back seat of the bus!

There are certain sounds that do wonderful things
for your brain.
Sounds that bring back memories.
Sounds that evoke laughter.
Sounds that instill peace and calm.
Sounds that make your heart happy.

Chirping birds.

Kids laughing.
The crackle of a fire.
The silence of being alone with thoughts and prayers.
My husband's voice.

My children (making pretty much any noise).
Waterfalls.
My dog grumbling and 'talking'.
Rain on a tin roof.
Cats purring.
Echoes in the mountains.

Take a moment
from your crazy, hectic schedule
and just listen.
There is a feast for your ears.

If speaking kindly to plants helps them grow,

Although it is very healthy for you
to occasionally step outside your comfort zone
and stretch your mind, body & soul;
there is nothing quite like being
In Your Element.

Whether it's writing,
reading,
hiking,
swimming,
drawing,
sculpting,
creating,
gardening,
helping,
volunteering,
fishing,
meditating,
boating,
wandering,
or whatever . . .
there is some that is both
soothing and empowering
when you're in that groove.

I hope you find your groove today.
At least for a little while.

Cleansing

Not everyone likes the rain.
Not everyone likes being stuck inside;
or pehaps being forced inside.
The traffic issues are irritating.
The flooding issues are bothersome.

I however, surprise surprise, love a good rain!

Not the downpour that wipes away hillsides.
Or the sprinkle that you barely notice.
But that cleansing rain that
washes away the dirt and pollen,
that waters the grass and flowers and shrubs,
that allows for growth and color.
It just makes things feel fresh and reinvigorated.

Rain on.
Spring cleaning at its finest!

Thanksgiving? In April?

Maybe not with turkey
and stuffing
and mashed potatoes
and green bean casserole
and cranberry sauce
and croissants
and gravy . . .

but thankful
for the gifts that His resurrection has allowed.

All day.
EVERY day.

(although now I'm kinda hungry)

Sacrifice

Before you complain about work.
Before you complain about hair frizz.
Before you complain about the heat (or the cold).
Before you complain about stress.
Put things in perspective.

There is no greater sacrifice made
than the one we celebrate this weekend.

You can make it throught the drive time.
You can put your hair up.
You can dress in layers.
You have no idea of stress.

Let go. Let God!
Believe in His sacrifice for you.
Live in His word.

A life well lived
is one in which is focused

I love a real garden.
Not the kind that sits in eight square feet
in your front yard,
but rather the kind that extends for acres.
There are stepping stones that lead you
from one enchanted place to the next.

Same in life.

No matter how rough those stones might be
where they go is glorious.

National Pet Day

Next to siblings, pets are pretty incredible.
Sometimes, even better than the siblings (sorry guys!).

There is that smiling snarl that greets me at the door.
The wiggling insanity that scampers down the hallway.
Those wistful eyes that look up at me.
That butt that always seems to need scratchin'.
Those soft-as-velvet ears that I could stroke til they come off.
The I-need-to-be-attached-to-you thing that goes on daily.
The let me rest my chin on you while you sit here.
It opens and stretches the heart to gather up all the love.
It's a beautiful thing.

Pet your pooch.
Cuddle with your kitty.
Hug your horse.
Be very careful squishing your hedgehog.
Love on whatever is loving you!

Today is National Sibling Day.
I may not be terribly feminine
having had six brothers,
but I can shoot hoops, toss the old pigskin,
play a mean game of golf, and could probably kick your #$#$!
I can also, however, clean up pretty well (thanks Mom!).
I suffered many bumps and bruises.
I also laughed more than most.
I am blessed to have you all in my life.
Skippy, you are missed more than you could understand.
To all youse other guys ~ my heart is yours always.
Siblings are your first best friends.
Your secret keepers.
Your partmers (yes with an m) in crime.
Your tennis doubles.
Your house fixer-uppers.
Your sounding boards.
