Pay Attention

So this was a post
sent to me.
I am sharing it because I believe it is
imperatively important.

Pay Attention . . .

Divine messages come to you
all the time.
They come through dreams,
snatches of songs,
through things that you read
which resonate with you,
through synchronistic conversations,
and most of all,
in the quiet recesses of your heart.
You may not have encounters
with burning bushes,
but that doesn't mean
God isn't speaking to you.

Pay Attention.

Why?

I have a beautiful Ch-Angel friend
who promotes her business energy and acumen
with her 'Why' - her children and fiance.
Every time I see her posts, or hear her voice
or listen to her tenacity in the face of so much,
she becomes my 'Why'.
What drives you?
What is your passion?
Sure, everyone likes fame and fortune,
but I'm talking WAY beyond that realm.
What gives your life purpose?
What is your 'Why'?

Mine . . .

God. Family.
Making a positive impact.

I believe that every impossible situation you're in;
every horrible issue you face;
every roadblock and hurdle you overcome;
was put in your way for two reasons:

1. to make you stronger
2. so you can help the next guy

What's your 'Why'?

Venting

As with any decent structure,
one must have good venting.
And, with any decent human being,
one must have good venting.
You cannot squelch feelings.
You cannot subdue anger or anxiety.
You cannot set aside your own self.
You matter.
What you feel matters.
What you think matters.
How you care matters.
What you hope for matters.
Open up those ducts.
Yell.
Scream.
Cry.
Workout.
Write.
Sing.
Walk.
Breathe.
Find your center.
Get it out of your head
and off your heart.

Vent!

The Journey

For most,
the journey is never
a straight line.
It is a tangled, knotted,
frayed, and frazzled mess.
And that, my friends,
is what makes it so grand.
What you gain and gather on the way;
the characters you meet;
the strengths you realize;
the talents you uncover;
the stamina you gain;
the lessons you learn;
the love you spread.
Maybe . . . honestly . . .
the journey is the destination.

NOW is the Time

Use the good china,
try the dessert,
wear your party dress,
don the sparkly bling,
travel and see new things,
write and draw and sing and dance;

do not wait for
the stars to be aligned,
'enough money' in the bank,
everything to be 'just right'.

NOW is the Time.

Blessed Interlude

So one of my jobs
requires me to sit in front of a computer
sometimes for 12+ hours at a time
staring at numbers,
proofreading, balancing figures
and whatnot.
It is a beautiful thing
to be interrupted by sweet folks
just checking in,
giving a hug,
sharing a story,
coaxing a laugh.
With so very much on my plate
I am forever grateful
for you and your
blessed interlude . . .
my little Ch-Angels.

Ahhhh Spring!

There is a beautiful anticipation
about Spring.
The grass is greening up.
The flowers are blooming.
The critters are coming out.
Folks are taking on projects.
There is an exhilaration
that beckons one
to grow, to blossom, to be outside
to enjoy what's around them.
It is a beautiful time.
Anticipating newness.

Each life is made up of
mistakes and learning,
waiting and growing,
practicing patience
and being persistent.

And while you are growing
in the school of day to day,
be patient with those around you;

be patient with your craft;
be persistent in your dreams;

Let's Laugh

Today is Let's Laugh Day!

Anyone who truly knows me,
or my family,
knows that we face most days
with laughter.
Good or bad, tumultuous or terrific,
gloomy or grand,
laughter always gets us through.
Of course there are days
when I'd like to throat punch people,
or call them up and 'give 'em what for'
(a favorite momma line)
but in the end . . .
their ignorance, stupidity, arrogance,
self-righteousness, and childishness,
is only mere fodder for more
chuckles and belly laughs.
Whatever you are facing,
there is laughter to be had.
It really is the best medicine!

Go.
Smile.
Laugh!

Happy Heart

There is just something
so sweet and good and undeniably fantastic
about creating and invoking laughter
from another human being.
I'm no comedian.
My mother did, however, instill some wit
infused with sarcasm and occasional brilliance.
To share that gift
and witness a smile, a giggle,
or a full on infectious belly laugh,
makes my wee little heart happy.
(see the Irish thing I did there?!)
Go and create a better world,
one smile at a time,
one laugh at a time,
one happy heart at a time.

Just Be You

So many people
'aspire' to be like someone else.
Many folks paint a facade
that is laughably ridiculous.
And some sway with the wind
on every issue and topic.

and brains and brawn
and an amazing uniqueness
that is not only needed,
but necessary,
in this world.

coming my way as of late.
This RL Stevenson gem really doesn't need
a whole lot of embellishment.
Let it seep in and take hold.

So the Wharton quote goes like so:

There are two ways of spreading light:
to be the candle

It does not say:
blows the other candle out

BE the light.

Good Samaritan

Today is Good Samaritan Day!
I've said it before and I'll say it again . . .
every day should be good samaritan day,
but celebrate what you can, when you can.

Take a moment today to look around you.
See what or who might need a little love.
How can you help?
What can you do?

Open a door. Assist in carrying something.
Offer a smile. Lend an ear.
Shoulder a burden. Give a hug.
Make someone's day better . . .
because you can.

Spring Ahead

This weekend, we prepare to turn our clocks forward.
We (except the northeast - sorry) prepare for gardening,
lawn maintenance and flowers blooming.
It is also time for spring cleaning.
Not just of your closets and dressers and garages;
but of your life, your head, your heart.
Take a moment and contemplate about
those things and people that weigh you down;
that bring more drama than a high school musical;
that create more havoc that a midwest tornado;
that are so me-centric there just isn't room for you.
Step away from those folks.
Give yourself a breather.
Find happy people, joyful people, like-minded people;
people who support you, help you, listen to you,
guide you, enlighten you, educate you, and love you.
Gravitate toward those folks.
Change the soil and the water source
and your field of flowers becomes extraordinary!

A dear soul
that I have known
for right around FORTY years.
He is more family
than a vast majority
of blood relatives.
He's instilled incredible morals
and ethics into my life
and even the lives of my children ~
who adore him.
He is kind and generous and supportive,
protective and loving and a little silly, too.
Who's better than him?
Not many.
Just the sight of your name on caller id
makes my heart happy.

make my soul smile.

Compromise and Understanding

The chicken and the egg;

which weighs more?
We all know those little quips
that keep you running around in circles.

Well, since it's optimism month . . .
let's be intelligent about things.

Who cares which came first?
Just be glad they are here.
Breakfast or dinner - both good choices.

What difference does it make -
half full or half empty?
You have a dadgum glass
and it is refillable!

A pound of rocks
or a pound of feathers?
They are both a pound.
I believe it is a much better question -
why are you contemplating rocks and feathers?
There's so much more to see and do.

Understand what is really at hand.
Compromise the thought process
to make the best decision.
