Strength

Strength is truly a multifaceted item.

Having dabbled in body-building and strength training, strength can literally mean 'what weight you are able to push, pull, lift, drag, squat, curl,' etc. In my glory days, I did pretty impressively weighing in at 112 pounds and squatting over 200. As of just a few years ago, I could do leg press over 400 pounds. Since the shoulders are shot from too much golf, tennis, and gymnastics - the arms never quite caught up to that level of weight lifting, but I can hold my own, thank you very much!

But strength, as I said, is multifaceted. It does not always refer to the literal weight you can move. Sometimes, it refers to the metaphorical weight you carry! I believe completely that there is not a person out there that cannot move mountains should they believe they can. There is much to overcome in this world. You cannot overcome it with handouts. You cannot overcome hardships on the backs of others. You cannot overcome obstacles by wishing and hoping. You have to find that inner strength to improve.

That would start with the simple initiative to wake up each day! If you've done that, you're on your way. Next, remember that you're never fully dressed without a smile. It doesn't matter what fears or foes you face. A positive attitude is more powerful than Arnold's biceps any day! Head up and eyes forward. If you can't see where you're going, you're likely not to get there. Know that the strength that lies within you is directly proportionate to whatever you might be challenged with . . . and then some! You really can do whatever you choose to do.

Today, I wish for you, the power of you! I hope you truly accept what you have within you. The power to rise above petty issues; the power to realize your own value; the power to make a difference. Whether you need help opening the pickle jar or not, the strength that lies at your core is amazing. Amaze yourself and let it out!
